Ed5002 Applications of
Learning Theories to the Analysis of Instructional Situations
This class is an examination
of three prominent conceptual perspectives of how learning occurs (Behaviorist
view, Cognitive view, Socio-Historic view) with emphasis in the practical application
of these perspectives to instructional situations.
Course objectives:
- Students will be able
to understand three major themes of theoretical conceptualization of learning
associated with each learning perspective: The nature of knowing The nature
of learning and transfer The nature of motivation
- Students will be able
to understand the design of learning environments as an issue of practical
conceptualization of learning from the point of view of each learning perspective:
- Students will be able
to use the theoretical and practical conceptualizations of learning from each
perspective to characterize folk psychology in learning theory, to analyze
web-based learning sites, to design an online instructional design, to prepare
and analyze a case.
