As part of the Tec de Monterrey's 2015 mission, the Central de Veracruz Campus' Institute for Sustainable Social Development expands its Community Social Service by developing 2 social projects this summer with the help of 4 Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) students.

Ms. Lulu Wang, a Mechanical Engineering major; Ms. Yu Li, who will attend MIT's Medical School in the fall; and Ms. Lily Ostrer and Ms. Darshali Vyas, Harvard University medical students, will take part in community social service projects at the Central Veracruz Campus.

Over the course of 4 weeks, these students will not only reinforce their knowledge and awareness of Veracruz society, but learn about the country's social reality and take action to address the problems and deficiencies that major sectors of Veracruz communities have on all fronts.

That is why they will focus on two major projects for the area: making a Braille screen low-cost prototype a reality and performing health brigades in a community were health services are sorely lacking.

The Braille screen, which Ms. Wang will work on together with CVC students, is a proposal which involves designing and developing a printer allowing a seeing impaired person to read documents in a more affordable electronic format (digital screen) than what is currently on the market.
